Its molecular weight ranges from several thousand to millions.

It is widely used as thickener, suspending agent, binder and protective colloid in the pharmaceutical, daily chemical and food industries.

It is used as mud stabilizer for oil and gas drilling, textile slurry, paper reinforcement, adhesive, etc.
