Hesperidin extract description

Hesperidin is a kind of flavonoid, which has the structure of dihydroflavonoid oxyglycoside and is weakly acidic. The pure product is white acicular crystal, which is the main component of vitamin P. After hydrogenation, hesperidin is a natural sweetener dihydrochalcone, which is 1000 times sweeter than sucrose, and can be used as a functional food. Hesperidin has a variety of biological characteristics. Modern research has found that hesperidin can resist oxidation and cancer, prevent mold, resist allergy, lower blood pressure, inhibit oral cancer and esophageal cancer, maintain osmotic pressure, enhance capillary toughness, and lower cholesterol. Relevant research shows that hesperidin has a broad-spectrum antibacterial effect on common food contamination bacteria, and has a significant inhibitory effect on Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella flexneri, Streptococcus haemolyticus and Vibrio cholerae, so it is widely used in food additives and food processing.

Hesperidin powder chemical property

Light yellow crystalline powder. Melting point 258-262 ℃ (softening at 252 ℃). Easily soluble in pyridine and sodium hydroxide solution, soluble in dimethylformamide, slightly soluble in methanol and hot glacial acetic acid, very slightly soluble in ether, acetone, chloroform and benzene. 1g of this product is soluble in 50L of water. Odorless and tasteless.

Hesperidin extract extraction process

Most of hesperidin exists in the waste of citrus processing. If it is in the peel and pericarp, the content of hesperidin in the mature peel and tissue is the highest (30% - 50% in the inner peel, 30% - 50% in the peel, core and pulp, and 10% - 20% in the outer peel), and the content in the juice and pericarp is 1% - 5% lower. The extraction methods of hesperidin include solvent extraction, alkali extraction and acid precipitation, carbon powder adsorption and ion exchange. The alkali extraction and acid precipitation method is simple in operation, low in cost and high in extraction rate. Hesperidin is soluble in dilute alkali, pyridine and hot water above 70 ℃, slightly soluble in methanol, and almost insoluble in acetone, benzene and chloroform.

The extraction of hesperidin mainly uses the two phenolic hydroxyl groups contained in hesperidin to react with sodium ions in the solution under alkaline conditions to generate sodium salt and dissolve it, then acidification and cooling to make it separate from the solution. Generally, hesperidin is extracted from orange peel by thermal extraction and immersion extraction, and the yield is not ideal. In recent years, ultrasonic extraction of effective ingredients from natural plants (especially Chinese herbal medicine) has been widely carried out and has made certain progress. Hesperidin is extracted by open-loop dissolution under alkaline conditions, and separated by closed-loop precipitation under acidic conditions. Increasing the amount of alkali during extraction can reduce the amount of ethanol, but the alkalinity should not be too large, otherwise hesperidin is easily damaged by oxidation.
