Marigold description

Marigold is an annual herb of marigold in the composite family, which is native to Mexico. It is distributed all over China. It can grow in the area with an altitude of 1150 meters to 1480 meters, mostly in roadside meadows. Marigold is often sown in spring. Because of its large flowers and long flowering period, it is often used in flower bed scenery. Marigold is the main raw material for extracting lutein and carotenoids. The average content of yellow pigment is no less than 12g per kilogram. This pigment is a pollution-free natural pigment.

Lutein introduction

Lutein, also known as "plant lutein", co-exists with zeaxanthin in nature. Lutein and zeaxanthin are the main components of plant pigments such as corn, vegetables, fruits and flowers, and also the main pigments in the macular region of the human retina. In nature, lutein has the highest content in dark green leafy vegetables such as kale, kale, spinach, and flowers such as marigold and marigold. Human eyes contain high amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin, but these two elements cannot be produced by human body, and must be supplemented by foods containing lutein and zeaxanthin. If these two elements are lacking, eyes will lose sight.

Lutein exists in some vegetables, fruits and egg yolks. It is a beneficial nutrient. It belongs to the carotenoid family. Carotenoids are chemicals related to vitamin A. β- Carotene is known as the precursor of vitamin A, but there are about 600 other compounds in this family that need to be understood. They have a lot besides lutein, such as α- Carotene, lycopene, zeaxanthin and β- Zeaxanthin.

In the plant world, carotenoids such as lutein mainly add color to sweet potatoes, carrots and other vegetables and fruits. In the human body, lutein and zeaxanthin constitute the main pigments of the most sensitive retinal center. Although lutein is not considered as an essential nutrient, studies have shown that it plays a great role in maintaining normal vision and preventing eye diseases, such as age-related macular disease (ARMD), cataract (cataracts), etc. Adequate intake of carotenoids can also reduce the incidence of colorectal cancer and heart disease.

Marigold extract function & application

1. Marigold extract is widely used in food, feed, medicine and other food industry and chemical industry. It plays an important role in improving the color of products. It is an indispensable additive in industrial and agricultural production.

2. Marigold extract is mainly used as essence and skin conditioner in cosmetics and skin care products.

Marigold flower extract processing technology

Marigold extract is an international name and is called "marigold lutein ointment" in China. Its processing technology mainly adopts subcritical biological technology and low-temperature leaching. First, marigold flowers are picked for fermentation and granulation, and then marigold particles are fed into the extraction tank, and then the marigold extract (marigold lutein ointment) can be obtained after subcritical biotechnology low-temperature extraction and mixed oil evaporation.
