Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract description

Lemon balm is a perennial herb of peppermint family. Its leaves have a faint lemon aroma and can be used as medicine. Lemon balm can be used alone or as part of a variety of herbal combination products. As early as the Middle Ages, it was used to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep, improve appetite, and relieve pain and discomfort caused by indigestion (including stomach gas, abdominal distention and colic).

1. Anxiety

Lemon balm can be used to help reduce anxiety.  

2. Insomnia

Improve the sleep of patients with insomnia. It has mild sedative effect.

3. Herpes labialis

Rosmarinic acid has effective antiviral properties and may contribute to the treatment of some viral infections.  

4. Gastrointestinal problems

Lemon balm can help treat indigestion (stomach discomfort), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and acid reflux.

5. Alzheimer's disease

Citral in lemon balm extract may inhibit cholinesterase, a drug used to treat Alzheimer's disease.
