As a ferulic acid amide compound, N-feruloyl octopamine is widely used in the fields of medicine and chemical industry.
Ferulic acid is obtained by Knoevenagel condensation reaction using cheap and easy-to-obtain vanillin as raw material. Then with N, N'-dicyclohexylcarboimide (DCC) as dehydrating agent, 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP) as catalyst, ferulic acid was reacted with octopamine to synthesize N-feruloyl Octopamine.
N-Feruloyloctopamine, isolated from Garlic bark, is an antioxidant component. N-Feruloyloctopamine significantly reduces Akt and p38 MAPK phosphorylation levels.
