Propenyl guaethol is a very important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in chemistry, chemical industry, medicine, food, materials and other fields. It can be used to manufacture phenolic resin, and can be used as bactericide and disinfectant after separation and purification. It is an intermediate of spices, fuels and medicines, and can be used to synthesize medicines, dyes, rubber antioxidants, monomer polymerization inhibitors, petroleum anticoagulants, etc.
The appearance is scaly white crystal or powder. It has a strong aroma like vanillin. The melting point is 85~86 ℃. It is easily soluble in most vegetable oils, edible solvents and essential oils, and extremely insoluble in water.
GB 2760-1996 stipulates that it is temporarily allowed to use edible spices. It is mainly used as a substitute for vanillin and to prepare chocolate essence.
It is formed by alkaline hydrolysis of 1-ethoxy-2-methoxy-4-propenylbenzene in ethanol or methanol solution at 150~190 ℃ and pressure; Or hydrolyzed in glycol solution under normal pressure.
It is prepared from 1-ethoxy-2-methoxy-4-propenylbenzene by saponification and double bond shift.
